twig My Biography

As a licensed clinical social worker, I have maintained a private psychotherapy practice in Center City Philadelphia since 2006 that I find both professionally and personally rewarding.  My clinical training has included completing a master of social work from Columbia University and then completing numerous post-graduate programs. These include:
  • Gestalt Therapy Institute of Philadelphia (GTIP)
  • Jean Baker Miller Training Institute at the Stone Center in Massachusetts
  • Level I & II in EMDR (eye movement desensitization reprocessing) for trauma
  • Over 10 years of yoga and breath work practice including studying with Amy Weintraub author of “Yoga for Depression”

In addition to my practice, I have served as the Executive Director of Therapy Center of Philadelphia (TCP) since 2007 and on staff as a clinician since 2003. WTC is a small non-profit that nurtures individual well-being and emotional growth by providing high-quality affordable psychotherapy services from a feminist perspective to women and transgender communities.  I have also provided numerous clinical trainings to mental health professionals around how to offer affirming and competent care to members of the trans communities from a non-pathologizing perspective.

Prior to building my private counseling practice, I worked in the areas of HIV/AIDS prevention and public health for eight years.   As a director, I developed and managed programs including building the largest community-based HIV testing clinic in Philadelphia and launching the City’s first LGBT health center at Mazzoni Center including their trans health medical program.
